The Godwin Obla Foundation has graciously linked St Francis College, Otukpo, to the information technology supper highway through the installation of a Starlinks Internet connectivity facility. This is in continuation of the giving-back philanthropic gesture of the Foundation.

Welcoming the Godwin Obla Foundation group to St Francis College compound recently for the handover ceremony, Rev Fr Austin Ochai, Principal and also an old boy, said it had become difficult to find adequate phrases to express commensurate gratitude to the Godwin Obla Foundation as the interventions by the Foundation in St Francis College were increasing by the day. He added that this particular Information Communication Technology(ICT) project must be particularly appreciated in recognition of the fact that the whole world had been reduced to a global village where virtually everything is technologically driven and controlled.

According to the Principal, “we are eternally grateful to Godwin Obla Foundation whose projects in this College have become numerous, especially this Internet connectivity which will greatly enhance the academic and learning processes of our students and staff members. I wish to promise that the facility shall be judiciously utilised. We cannot thank our benefactor enough for ensuring that we are not left behind in this highly competitive global push in ICT.”
While handing over the Starlinks Internet facility, the Director General(DG) of Godwin Obla Foundation, Elder Michael Ubah Obande, JP, told the audience that the Foundation is a Non-governmental, non-profit and non-partisan Organisation whose vision and mission are encapsulated in the philosophy of healthy living towards increased lifespan for enhanced productivity.
“Information is most essential for you to achieve your vision of producing complete and all round positively moulded students who will stand out as worthy ambassadors of the College, even at global level. The Foundation holds St Francis College most dear to her heart. The usage of this Internet facility must therefore be properly monitored to avoid wrong application. I am happy to announce that the Godwin Obla Foundation shall, in addition, undertake the payment of the first two years for hosting the Starlinks facility”, Elder Obande enthused.
On hand to witness the handover ceremony were Vice Principals, Heads of Departments, and many Teachers.
Starlinks is a United States of America (USA) based company which owns a constellation of space satellites providing coverage for more than seventy countries in terms of global mobile broadband provisions.
